The news that Minister of State for Business, Employment and Retail, Damien English, has agreed the ERO to pave the way for a new pay agreement and wage structures for early childcare workers is to be hugely welcomed.
They are a hard working group who deserve their recompense.
As Ireland’s largest privately owned Irish security company Manguard Plus recognises and appreciates how hard people in this country work, and we are at a loss to know why Minister English has not moved to ensure the ERO for the Security sector has not been enacted .
We know that the 16,000 workers in the security sector in Ireland are at a loss to know why also.
They are frontline workers who put in long hours in a fast paced, responsible and often demanding industry.
We have written to Minister English seeking an urgent meeting but to date he has not come back to us.
We are going to keep up the pressure on this issue for the workers in our industry, as given we are living through an inflationary crisis, the lack of the ERO enactment is an injustice that we are determined to right.
